Coaching Experience Highlights:
I have coached in 49 different seasons between junior high/senior high swimming, soccer, and track. One would think that I have seen pretty much everything, but really, the only thing I know is that I come across something different every season.
Competitive Swimming Highlights:
The teams I was a part of at Fargo North won state titles in 1984 and 1985.
Why I first got involved in swimming?
I failed advanced beginners swim lessons three times. (I think that would be about level three or four in modern times.) The third time, my instructor was the Gator head coach. In addition to not passing me, he sent me a letter to asking me to consider joining the swim team. (I could do freestyle, but not enough other things needed to pass.) I joined at age nine and have been involved in competitive swimming for 35 consecutive years.
Signature piece of swimming gear:
I use old-school goggles with tape on the nose piece.
What is your favorite stroke/event?
Although it was a little too long for me, the 50 free.
